FAQs
Please read our FAQs page to find out more.
What Vehicles Is This Charger Compatible With?
This portable EV charger uses a SAE J1772 / Type 1 connector and is compatible with electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles equipped with a J1772 charging port.
Tesla vehicles with a NACS charging port require a compatible J1772-to-NACS adapter, which is not included with the charger.
Does It Support Both Level 1 and Level 2 Charging?
Yes. The charger supports 120V, 208V, and 240V AC input. Charging on 120V provides Level 1 charging, while 208V or 240V provides Level 2 charging.
Actual charging speed depends on the outlet voltage, selected current, vehicle onboard charger, and battery condition.
What Charging Current Can I Select?
You can select from four charging-current settings:
- 8A
- 10A
- 13A
- 16A
Select the charging current after connecting the charger to the grounded outlet and before plugging the J1772 connector into the vehicle. If no current is selected, the charger defaults to 8A.
What Type of Outlet and Circuit Do I Need?
Use only a properly installed and grounded outlet that matches the charger plug. The manual specifies connection to a circuit with a maximum 20A branch-circuit overcurrent protection.
Have the outlet and grounding checked by a qualified electrician when you are unsure whether the existing circuit is suitable.
Can I Use the Charger Outdoors?
The charger features a Type 4 / IP65-rated enclosure for resistance to dust and water exposure. It can operate in temperatures from -22°F to 122°F.
Do not use the charger if the cable, plug, control box, or vehicle connector is cracked, frayed, open, or otherwise damaged. Keep electrical connections properly seated during charging.
